Conservative Policies
The Conservatives and David Cameron want to create a 'Big Society', with people taking greater social responsibility, and with less state interference in our every day lives. This concept forms the basis of all modern Conservative policy thinking.
The Conservatives, under David Cameron, fought the May 2010 General Election on these key points:
- to tackle the national debt
- to boost enterprise & business
- to make Britain the most family-friendly country in Europe
- to support the NHS
- to raise standards in schools
- to reform Westminster politics
- to create a Big Society - 'Big Society, Not Big Government'
During the 2010 election campaign, New Forest West Conservatives campaigned on these key areas, as well as other Conservative policies very important to our local area such as:
- new planning guidance, with more decision power given to our local councils
- more and better housing, but not at the expense of our environment
- a better deal for the countryside and rural communities
- pensions and a better deal for older people
