DISTRICT COUNCILLOR FOR BARTON WARD

My name is Alan O'Sullivan, and I am one of your two Barton ward District councillors.

As Mayor, and Chair of the Town Council last year, I was enthusiastic in doing my best in promoting our town as a pleasant place to live. I love the Barton and New Milton area, having chosen to live here for over 30 years, and look forward to having more influence in maintaining and improving our environment.

As a committed Conservative and Chairman of the Barton & Becton Branch of the Conservative Association, I am very pleased to be standing, along with Cllr Goff Beck, as your prospective candidate in the forthcoming elections.  I have already worked alongside Goff for many years and feel we would support each other in representing the Barton area.

I feel it is an asset to work in the High Street at Hardy's Electrical as I am easily accessible to anyone who may have a query or just wants a chat and to share their views.  I am interested in local comment. It also means that I have close contacts with members of commerce and can represent the constituent’s point of view in business matters.

I am a Governor at New Milton Junior School and Arnewood School and am also Vice-Chairman of the Partnership Board of the Phoenix Children’s Centre. In these roles I feel I have awareness of both youth and parent issues.

There are many challenges ahead both at national and local level, but be assured that, from David Cameron down to myself and Goff, we will be striving to listen to and respond to local community needs.
