DISTRICT COUNCILLOR FOR BASHLEY WARD

My name is Alan Rice.  I am your District councillor for Bashley ward on the edge of New Milton.  

Apart from his dedication to Bashley ward Alan has a great interest in the wider New Milton area, having the unusual distinction of being past Chairman of New Milton Town Council, New Forest District Council and Hampshire County Council.

Few councillors can match Alan’s experience at the various levels of local government. After many years on the previous Lymington Borough Council he has served on the New Forest District Council since its formation in 1974.

Alan, who is also a County Councillor, is proud to be a member of New Forest District Council which has been rated “Excellent” again by the independent auditor, who regularly checks every aspect of the council’s work on the residents' behalf.

Amongst Alan’s campaign successes is Bashley roundabout, which has proved a significant asset to road safety, and the installation of the pedestrian crossing at the Arnewood Medical Centre - not only a boon to the less able and elderly, but also helping school children and everyone else to cross safely.

Alan also served many years on the Court of Verderers.
