DISTRICT COUNCILLOR FOR BARTON WARD

My name is Goff Beck.  I am one of your two District councillors for Barton ward. 

It has been my privilege to be a very active member of the Conservative team serving you over the past twelve years, an era that has witnessed much change.  During this period your Conservative Administration has been rated “as performing well” by the Audit Commission.

As a ‘team player’ my role has primarily been to work with the District Council’s Leader, Barry Rickman, and the police as the Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Crime and Disorder.  Notwithstanding the proposed changes regarding the policing of the New Forest, this partnership has been and, will remain, very forceful in addressing the issues of yobbish anti social behaviour and vandalism.  These initiatives with the introduction of CCTV in our town are positive actions to reduce the ‘fear of crime’ and make New Milton, in particular BARTON a safer place for one and all.

As a lifelong “BARTONION”, and with the support of my wife Christine, I am seeking your support to serve the BARTON ward for the ensuing four years as your District Councillor.  I will continue to fight the over development of BARTON and represent residents’ views at Planning Appeals.  I currently hold the offices of Chairman, of the Association of Parish Councils in the New Forest, Chairman New Milton Town Council’s Amenities Committee, President BARTON & Becton Conservative Branch, Governor of The Arnewood School, member of the BARTON Residents Executive Committee. I am always available to listen to your views and where necessary, on your behalf, address your concerns to the appropriate department at District or County Council.
